My practice reflects my journey from senior executive roles in a FTSE 100 company helping to develop medicines for anxiety and depression, to understanding and prioritising individual well-being.
Medicines can be extremely helpful for many people but many life situations that can cause us distress will certainly benefit from 'talk therapy'.
I have drawn on my personal and industry experience to develop the skills to work with you to help you to discover and use your own personal resources to face your challenges and effect the positive change you need for a better life.
My experience encompasses a range of therapeutic settings, including a busy NHS health centre, taking GP referrals for a wide range of patient issues and the University of Salford Domestic Abuse Service where I use my specialist training to work with survivors of domestic abuse and engage in research alongside my private practice.
These, and other experiences such as working with Arts therapy have helped me to develop the skills and compassion and non-judgemental support you need to help yourself to foster resilience and personal growth.
I hold a post-graduate qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Salford. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical code. I hold an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate and follow GDPR guidelines with any of your personal information. My private practice is fully insured and I ensure the quality of my work through regular clinical supervision prioritising your safety and confidentiality as you embark on your therapeutic journey.
In my private practice I work with many client issues including anxiety and depression, bereavement, stress, challenging relationships or simply just working out how to move towards a better life. In my NHS work, I have encountered a wide variety of client issues and understand the value of providing dedicated time and space to navigate life’s challenges.
Alongside my private practice, I specialise in assessing and counselling survivors of domestic abuse in all its forms working for the University of Salford Domestic Abuse Service. With specialist training in understanding trauma, I assist individuals to rebuild their lives after leaving abusive relationships. I am currently engaged in various research projects at the centre.
Primarily person-centred, my counselling involves working with you to make sense of your experiences. I focus on unlocking your inner resources for positive change. I can also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT) and Arts therapy to tailor your therapy to your needs.
Many clients have been kind enough to comment on their experience of therapy. A small selection of client comments are shown here.
